Counselling & Psychotherapy
Therapy differs from speaking to friends or family members as a therapist does not know you from any other area of your life. It is a private place to talk freely without feeling judged, told what to do, or worried that you might hurt another person’s feelings.
You may want to have therapy for several reasons, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Something has happened in life that you are finding it difficult to make sense of or understand
- You have lost someone you cared about, and you’re finding it hard to cope with your grief
- You have been experiencing feelings of anxiety or panic that may be stopping you from doing the things you want to do
- You have been feeling low for some time
- You are feeling stuck in your life
- You’re feeling exhausted or suffering from stress and burnout
- You have lost your sense of joy or purpose
- You realise that the same thing keeps happening in your relationships or you keep attracting the same kind of partner
- You may be over-reacting to things and not knowing why or how to control your emotions.
You may have a clear idea of what you want to address with therapy. You may want to feel better, less anxious, or more confident. Or you might want to change your behaviour (eat healthier, be less reactive). For this, we can set and work with goals.
Or you might know something is off, but you need to figure out what, and this is something you want to explore; this would lead to us talking each week and seeing where we get to. I will be led by you and your needs, but I will also offer challenge and a different perspective where necessary.
We can work face to face, we can work outside in Macclesfield, online via Zoom, or I offer email therapy.
